Social Media Is Far Worse Than AI Models Like Crap GPT
Everyone is panicking about AI. They’re losing their fucking minds over chatbots and algorithms stealing jobs or ruining the world. I don't buy it. If you want to see something that actually ruins lives and tears communities apart, you need to be looking elsewhere. You look at social media.
I grew up in a town where people used to look out for each other. We had our punch-ups of course but we shook hands at the end of the day. You knew who you were dealing with. Now, I watch my family and old school friends back home, and it’s like they’re living in a completely different world.
A few years ago, my mate's lad got caught up in a massive online row... something to do with a Facebook post. It started over something daft, just a silly comment about a football match. Within two hours, people he didn't even know were hammering his phone. Total strangers were calling him every name under the sun. They weren't trying to chat.. they wanted to destroy him. The poor wee lad didn't sleep for a week. He wouldn't leave the house because he thought the whole world hated him. That isn't progress. That is a fucking disease.
AI doesn't do that. Crap GPT might give you a dodgy answer or sound a bit robotic, but it doesn't feed on your venom or anger. It doesn't get a boner from watching you argue with your neighbours. Social media is built for that exact reason. It wants you raging at anything that moves because anger keeps you scrolling. It turns normal punters into a hate mob. It turns cretinous sheep into utter wankers of the highest order.
I see it every time I visit my family each summer. You sit in the boozer and half the room is staring at a fucking screen, getting riled up by some fake story designed to make them mad. It has broken the way we talk to each other. People don't listen anymore. They just wait for their turn to shout, to feel offended, to feel victimised, to feel furious.
We're pointing our fingers at the wrong villain. AI is just a "slop" tool. Social media is the thing that actually broke our society, and we handed it the keys like a bunch of brainless fuckwits because we’d rather eat their digital shite and scream at our neighbours than face the fact that we’ve been completely done over.
